Welcome to the farm....

Welcome to Epona Farm. In 1999 we purchased this small farm to be our escape from city living, and the chance to fill our daughter's life with natural opportunities. Over the years it not only became our haven, but also sanctuary for those living with difficult life circumstances, and animals in need of new beginnings.

As we prepare to celebrate 17 years of life on the farm, we were faced with new obstacles requiring a deeper commitment to the health and well being of family. It became important for us to return to simpler way of life again, and focus our energies on what we have been doing in the shadows of our work in Equine Assisted Learning and Psychotherapy. This summer, our organically managed farm will be returning to its roots, roots deep in wellness for horses, humans, and companion animals. We are excited to bring our community new opportunities to learn and grow in a natural and holistic way. We are proud to offer the following products and services:

  • Therapeutic Horticulture
  • Education in safe essential oil usage
  • Handcrafted, Organic products including soap, essential oil blends and shampoos
  • Organically grown herbs, vegetables, and flowers
  • Plant based nutrition and culinary education
  • Artwork and handmade crafts
  • Equine and canine sports massage and energy work
  • Curriculum development and unique pilot EFL/EFP programs.
  • EFL/EFP training opportunities for professionals.

We are so grateful to have the chance to show you how you can bring holistic balance to your life through interactions with animals, your environment, the foods you eat, the ways you manage stress and daily living, and how you can do the same for your beautiful companion animals.

Epona Organics offers care products such as bar soap and shampoo for cats, dogs, horses and livestock, and lotion, bar soap and body wash for people. Our products are all handcrafted, with great pride, and you'll notice that they contain small flecks of herbs, that's because every oil or liquid we use is infused with herbs and flowers grown right here on our farm.

Our products contain only saponifed (the end process of combining oils into soap & glycerin with sodium or potassium hydroxide) organic oils such as coconut, olive, jojoba oil, and hemp seed oil. Then we add our organic and/or wild crafted essential oils, which we personally source for the highest quality from producers for medical and clinical essential oils. All of our essential oils are therapeutic grade and are certified by their producers. We then add infusions and hydrosols of herbs grown here in our gardens or hand selected from other local organics farms, a dash of other organic ingredients we make, such as rosemary extract, finish up the process.

Because we have Labrador Retrievers with corn allergies, we moved away from creating products with decyl glucoside, which is the main ingredient in most commercial and hand made liquid soap basis. Our products are also free of soy, and we use certified organic gluten free oats in our oatmeal based soaps. Epona Organics will also create a custom product for you, based on your needs, or the needs of your pet or horse.

I am so pleased to be able to share my experience with essential oils and aromatherapy with new clients. Essential oils can be a wonderful addition to any family wellness toolkit, and can make living a more holistic life much easier than you ever imagined. But they do need to be used with care, and it is a great help having a professional by your side to get you started safely.

The Essential Oil Discovery Kit

This kit is great for those just getting started with essential oils, or for those who like to keep things simple and only use a few oils that do many great things.

The kit includes .25 ounce bottles (7.4ml) of Peppermint, Tea Tree, Lavender, and Eucalyptus essential oils. These essential oils are pure, and therapeutic grade. I also have the certified organic, therapeutic grade essential oils available for additional cost. I include links to an online guide you can print or save to your phone, Kindle or tablet. This guide includes more than 25 great ways you can use the essential oils in your kit. The Essential Oil Discovery Kit is just $25, If you would prefer certified organic oils, the kit cost is $45. Shipping via USPS Priority mail is $5.95, or free pickup at the Endicott Farmers market on Thursday evenings.

For dog and horse lovers, we will have single oils, as well as kits so you can economically make our fly and flea and tick sprays at home. Not only does it save you money, because you aren't paying for water or constant shipping, but it is far more environmentally sound to reuse our spray bottles, rather than having a pile of plastic bottles full of chemical residues that cannot be re-used.

For people, we will have single oils and kits that you can use to make cleaning products and other needs around the home.

Each kit comes with an educational guide to help you learn more about the oils you are using, and how to use them safely.

**Please note** We do not recommend the use of essential oils or products containing them for cats or birds. Each has a very unique metabolism, and reactions can be severe, or deadly. We make essential oil free products for animals who are sensitive.

To further foster the connections between people and farms like ours, we bring many of the holistic products we make, artisan crafts, and organically grown herbs, flowers and vegetables to our local farmers markets and community events. Our home market is the Endicott Farmers Market at 300 Lincoln Avenue, Endicott NY. We are there each Thursday June-October from 4:30-7pm. We try to keep our offerings fresh and fun, and you never know what we may be bringing, so please come each week and support your local farms and craftspeople.

Epona Farm has been organically managed, carefully tended, and very much loved since 1999. The farm has history dating back to the 1860's, and was part of the original Boston Purchase, which is the beginnings of the settled areas here. We maintain acres of habitat just for wildlife, have extensive gardens designed for sensory exploration, and of course…there is our lovely private horse farm nestled among all that.

Please note that the farm is not a commercial venue, and we do not offer tours and so on. We appreciate your understanding.

Who is Epona?

Where does the name "Epona Farm" come from? Epona is a Celtic deity and the protector of horses, donkeys, and mules. She is also known as a goddess of fertility, as she is often portrayed with abundant grain, cornucopia's and in the presence of foals.

At the heart of what we do is humane, ethical and protective care of horses, donkeys and mules, and the sharing of our gardens, teaching of organic agriculture and therapeutic horticulture. When we were searching for official names to give our beautiful farm, Epona seemed so fitting, there really was no other choice!

The horses and farm animals that come to our farm have interesting stories to tell. Some have had wonderful lives with loving owners who have entrusted us to care for them in retirement.  Others have struggled through abuse, neglect, starvation or have special needs their former owners couldn’t meet. Regardless of their background, they come here and spend the rest of their days surrounded by love, round the clock care, an incredible team of veterinary, farrier and alternative health care providers, and many people who adore them. Our animals are fed a holistic diet that meets their individual needs, including a wide variety of herbs, fruits and vegetables, the same ones we use in our products. They also receive daily exercise, weekly massage and bodywork, as well and energy work, to keep them healthy and happy.
